Cross Country - Alvarado recorded a personal-best finish of eighth at the UTSA/Whataburger Invitational where he finished with a time of 16:58... cross the end line in 30:13 at the Texas State Invitational, which was good for 23rd place... Outdoor - A middle distance performance, Alvarado won gold on two occasions at the Angela Proctor Classic in the 800 meter (2:00.04) and 1500 meter (4:00.48)... earned two other top ten finishes in the 800 meter at the Bayou Classic (10th / 2:03.11) and Whataburger/UTSA Relays (10th / 2:06.48).

Cross Country - Alvarado finished 18th overall at the Independent Championships with a time of 28:40 during the 8K race.

High School - Alvarado was named the Rio Grande Valley Runner of the Year following the 2002 season after he finished sixth at the state meet... was a three-time district champion in the 800 meter and won the regional championship as a senior... captured the 400 meter dash crown at the District 32-5A meet as a junior and senior... recorded best times of 48.9 in the 400 meter dash and 1:54.00 in the 800 meter... was also member of the Weslaco football team.

Off the Track - Alvarado is the son of Jose and Maria Alvarado... has two brothers - Leo and Ruben - and one sister - Laura... was born on Oct. 12, 1983... majoring in nursing.
