Cross Country - Castro captured his first individual championship at the UTSA/Whataburger Invitational, finishing with a time of 16:19... was 14th at the Independent Championships hosted by Texas A&M - Corpus Christi, crossing the end line in 26:38...Outdoor - Castro had his highest finish of the season at the Border Olympics where he placed fourth in the 800 meter with a time of 1:58.99... Classroom - Castro excelled in the classroom where he was cited as a United States Achievement Academy All-American Scholar as well as Dean[apos]s List First Honors selection... was also a member of the UTPA Athletic Director[apos]s Honor Roll and Bronc Pride 3.0 Club member during the fall and spring semesters.

Outdoor - Castro recorded seven top ten finishes during the 2003 outdoor track and field season... was second in the 1500 meter race twice that season at the Javelina Relays (4:06.77) and Angela Proctor Classic (2:07.89)... placed fourth in the 800 meter run with a time of 1:56.43 at the Javelina Relays... scored a pair of eighth-place finishes at the Dogwood Invitational in the 800 meter (1:54.32) and 1500 meter (3:59.45)... ran a season-best in the 1500 meter at the Texas Invitational with a mark of 3:55.98 en route to placing seventh... Cross Country - Castro had his best finish of the season at the UTSA/Whataburger Invitational with a time of 16:25... finished 22nd at the Islander Splash (27:34) and 23rd at the Independent Championships (30:11) as both were held at Texas A&M - Corpus Christi... Classroom - Castro earned Dean[apos]s List First Honors for attaining a perfect 4.0 grade point average in both the spring and fall... was a member of the Bronc Pride 3.0 Club in both semesters.

High School - A native of the Rio Grande Valley, Castro captured individual championships in the 800M at the Sharyland Invitational and Corpus Christi Invitational... finished second in the 800M and third in the 1600M at the district championships during his senior season... was a regional finalist that season... cited as Freshman Newcomer of the Year for the cross country team... earned MVP honors in his final season... was a team captain along with a four-year letterwinner for the cross country team... posted a top time of 1:57.00 in the 800M and 4:30.00 in the 1600M... was Vice President of the senior class... was a member of the National Honor Society... selected as a Texas Scholar and Distinguished Achievement Program Graduate.
