Summary

Biography

Juan Rangel, a strong defensive catcher, also proved he can hit NCAA Division I pitching in 1998. He batted .538 with 14 hits to lead all the Broncs in batting average. Unfortunately, he was injured and played in just nine games all season. Having Rangel healthy could make an impact in the Broncs line-up this season. He is ready to climax his collegiate career with an outstanding spring. He gives the catching corps depth in proven ability.     Rangel hit. 420 at Brownsville Porter HS, where he was MVP and All-Valley catcher. He then played two years for the University of Texas at Brownsville-Texas Southmost College, where sharpened his catching skills.     Rangel is majoring in Kinesiology, minoring in Biology, and plans to teach and coach.
