Summary

Biography

Lance Heger gives the Broncs a freshman catcher with excellent credentials. He comes from winning back-to-back state championships for Weimar High, a Class 2A Texas powerhouse from the Houston area.     Now Hegar, like all incoming freshmen must learn to adjust to NCAA Division I, a high level of baseball. Catcher must more than most they see "D One," pitching from both points of view, as a batter and then on defense, catching it.    Heger hit .450 for Coach John Wunderlich and earned Newcomer of the Year honors as a freshman at Weimar High, then All-State as a junior and senior. He also played football in high school.  The early UTPA scouting report on Heger is that he needs college experience, but looks to be an outstanding college baseball player.     Heger is undecided so far on his major course of study at UTPA.
