Jason Bottenfield has matured as a pitcher after being part of the Bronc starting rotation in 1998. with year of NCCA Divison I baseball under his belt, he figures to make a big impact  in 1999.    His statistics last season were highly deceptive, 1-8 record especially, because a porpous and rebuiulding Bronc defense in 1998 gave up 30 unearned runs while bottenfield was pitching.     Giving up 30 unearned runs in 47 distorts any pitcher's W-L record.    Bottenfield pitched well 1997 for Skip Johnson (former Bronc mound ace himself in 1989), who coaches Navarro JC in East Texas. Before that, Bottenfield  led his district as a strikeout leader at Flower Mound Marcus High. He played shortstop as well as pitched as an All-District player for Coach Jeff Harp.    Bottenfield is majoring criminal justice and plans to become a federal agent.
