HOUSTON – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros men's golf team returns to action when they compete at the Bayou City Collegiate Classic starting on Monday at Westwood Golf Club.
The 54-hole event will feature 36 holes on Monday with the final 18 holes being played on Tuesday. Play starts with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. each day.
Westwood Golf Club plays 7,184 yards and is a par 72.
The Competition
There will be a 14-team field that will feature UTRGV, host Rice, Abilene Christian, Houston, Houston Christian, Incarnate Word, Lamar, Louisiana, Louisiana Monroe, Prairie View A&M, UT Arlington, Texas Southern, Utah Valley, and Valparaiso.

Last Time Out
The Vaqueros opened their fall season with a fifth place finish at the JT Poston Invitational with a three-round score of 840 with rounds of 283, 280, and 277.
Jorge Martin Sampedro led the Vaqueros finishing in second place with a program record tying 203 after rounds of 70, 70, and a program record 63.
Rodolphe Cicala finished tied for fourth with a three-round score of 205 with rounds of 67, 67, and 71. His 205 is tied for the fifth lowest three-round score in program history.
Emilio Gil Leyva finished tied for 28
th with a three-round score of 212 with rounds of 74, 71, and 67.
Esteban Gonzalez and
Arthit Kruaprayong finished tied for 48
th with three-round scores of 217. Gonzalez posted rounds of 74, 71, and 72 while Kruaprayong carded rounds of 72, 74, and 71.
Gabriel Dulon Villoslada finished tied for 65
th with a three-round score of 219 with rounds of 75, 72, and 72.
Last Year at the Bayou City Collegiate Classic
The Vaqueros finished in sixth place at last year's Bayou City Collegiate Classic with a three-round score of 864 with rounds of 285, 293, and 286.
Esteban Gonzalez finished tied for 23
rd with a three-round score of 214 with rounds of 69, 76, and 69.
Juan Luis de Bethencourt Duque finished tied for 35
th with a three-round score of 217 after rounds of 69, 73, and 75.
Arthit Kruaprayong finished tied for 40
th with a three-round score of 219 after posting rounds of 74, 75, and 70. Luis Límon finished tied for 49
th with a three-round score of 221 with rounds of 78, 71, and 72.
Taj Sutherland finished tied for 68
th with a three-round score of 228 and
Eddie Lai finished tied for 70
th with a three-round score of 229.
Sam Houston won the team title with a three-round score of 837 while LSU's Noah McWilliams won the individual title in a playoff after finishing with a three-round score of 204.
