Biography

Michael Ruiz comes to the Broncs as a freshman pitching prospect from H.M. King HS in Kingsville, where he starred as a pitcher two years for coach Ricky Soliz (formerly a great pitcher for the Broncs in 1970-73, when the Broncs won 32, 44, 40 and 31 games).     Ruiz needs seasoning-as all freshman new to NCAA Division I require. He is 18 years old, 6-2 and 152. If it's a consoling thought for him and the other rookies, coach Soliz as a young Bronc once lost two games in one day as a relief pitcher-but came back strong to pitch for three straight NCAA playoffs ballclubs.     Ruiz is majoring in Accounting and plans to become a CPA (Certified Public Accountant).
