Biography

Sam Price, one of the just seven seniors on a 33-player squad, is being counted upon to stabilize the young ballclub - and to provide some offensive punch in the outfield.     Price's strength in his offense. He started half (26) of UTPA's 52 games in 1997. He hit a steady .247. Like the other senior outfielders, he can provide leadership amid a sea of new faces.     Price led the Bronc pitching staff in earned-run average, but his 0.00 ERA came from pitching two innings in one appearance. He will concentrate on the outfield this year and no longer be in the bullpen.     Price hit well for Lufkin HS teams that reached the state semifinals in 1992 and 1994. He hit .355 at Vernon JC.     Sam Price, 6-0 and 185, is majoring in Kinesiology.
