Summary

Biography

The scouting report on Leo Salinas is brief bit strong: Runs well, hits, can hot with power, can really go get ' em in the outfield.     He proved those words with some impressive numbers as a freshman starter (48 starts in 51 games) for the 1997 Broncs. He batted a solid .276 with 51 hits, 10 doubles, five triples (leading the team) and five homers. He tied the team lead with nine steals. His .465 slugging average ranked third among regulars.     Salinas came out of Mission High, where he played for Coach Eliseo Pompa, with excellent skills. Salinas was nominated for Sun Belt Conference "Freshman of The Year," in 1997. Although he didn't win it in the 10-university league, he is definitely penciled in to start the season in the center field he patrolled so well as a rookie.     Salinas is 5-9 and 175. He is majoring in Kinesiology.
