Biography

Jaun (Oscar) Cruz comes back to South Texas from Ranger JC in West Texas, where he proved himself that rarity, a fast catcher who can double as a pinch runner as well as designated hitter.     Cruz improves UTPA's depth behind home plate. He is from the Lower Rio Grande Valley, where he hit .368 with four homers as All-Area, All-Valley and MVP for the All-Star game while playing for Coach Tom Ogletree at PSJA High. Cruz also lettered in football for PSJA.     Juan Cruz is 5-9 and 170 pounds. He majoring in Kinesiology, minoring in Health.
