Biography

James ( Jim Bob) Porter figures to give the Broncs some innings in relief as a freshman lefthanded pitcher. He swings the bat well and is capable of playing first base.     Like all the Bronc newcomers Porter will be learning NCAA  Division I baseball while he tries to establish his role on the ballclub.     Porter pitched well for Coach Hardy Dotson at Henderson HS, where he earned All-East Texas honors with a 4-2 record and 1.55 ERA. He lettered three years in baseball and two years in football and two years in football. Last summer, he went 10-1 with a 1.72 ERA for the defending national Champion Dallas Mustangs, who finished fifth in the U.S. in amateur baseball in 1997.     James Porter, 6-4 and 200, is majoring in Pre-Med.
