Cross Country - In her first season with the Lady Broncs, Castillo made an instant impact as she was named both an all-region selection as well as a first team All-Independent team member... was the first UTPA runner to cross the finish line in all six races... earned three top ten finishes... finished 20th at the NCAA Division I South Central Regional hosted by Baylor University with a time of 21:31, which broke the school record in the 6,000 meters by 37 seconds... was ninth at the Independent Championships hosted by Texas A&M - Corpus Christi with a time of 17:45, which was the second fastest time in the 5,000 meters in program history... cited as the Independent Runner of the Week on Oct. 12th after finishing 21st out of 163 runners at the Auburn Invitational with a time of 19:16.07... finished fifth at the UTSA/Whataburger Invitational, which was her highest finish of the season... crossed the line in eighth place at the Texas State Invitational, finishing in 19:10.

High School - Castillo earned 10 letters during her four-year stint at Mission High School - four in cross country, four in track and field, one in soccer and one in powerlifting... qualified for the state meet in cross country as a junior and senior where she placed fifth both times... was named outstanding performer for the cross country team in each of the four years that she competed... was a member of the National Honor Society.

Off the Track - Castillo is the daughter of Maria Castillo... was born on Sept. 26, 1984... majoring in political science.
