High School - Salinas was rated one of the top performers in the Rio Grande Valley for three years in the long and triple jumps... was an All-Valley selection in the triple jump during her senior season... qualified for the state meet in her last season... was a four-time regional qualifier... holds personal-bests of 36-4.5 in the triple jump and 17-6.5 in the long jump... cited as the Most Athletic Girl at Sharyland High School... earned both MVP and Field Event Award honors for the track and field team... finished as the high-point scorer at the Steve Stark Meet... was a member of a track and field program that won the district championship 12 years in a row... cited as an honorable mention all-district recipient in volleyball... earned nine letters for the Rattlers - four in track and field, two in basketball, two in cheerleading and one in volleyball... participated in the Environmental Club, Leo Club and Class Secretary.

Off the Track - Salinas is the daughter of Taurino and Gloria Salinas... was born on Jan. 13, 1986... has one brother and two sisters... majoring in nursing... chose UTPA over UT - San Antonio and St. Mary[apos]s (TX).
