"When I started playing in seventh grade it was half court basketball, which was very different from what I saw in high school and college," Thomas said. "I want to thank Coach McDowell for helping me to reach great heights not just on the court, but in the classroom as well. I didn't play for personal recognition, but this is one award I'm honored to accept."
