In 2015 the 1963 men’s tennis team was inducted into the hall of fame. The Pan American College Tennis Broncs entered the 1963 season as the defending NAIA champions, having secured the crown in both 1961 and 1962. The team was led by hall of fame head coach Harry Meng and under the leadership of captain Ken Lang. Despite the departure of hall of famers like Don Russell and John Sharpe, the team featured a mix of experienced players and promising newcomers. Hall of fame junior Jerry Wortelboer led the squad of fellow junior Reidar Getz, sophomores Jim Saucedo and John Hunter, and freshmen Jorge Kon and Luis Goncalvez proved to be key players. The Broncs' schedule was packed with challenging matches against Southwest Conference schools such as Rice, Texas A&M, and the University of Texas. Additionally, the team participated in prestigious tournaments, including the Rice Collegiate Tournament, the River Oaks Tournament, and the Buccaneer Days Tournament.

In February, the Broncs started off the season strong with a 5-1 victory over Rice University. As the season progressed, the team brought unity and skill during the 10th Annual Pan American Collegiate Tennis Tournament. Then, Lang won the NAIA Singles Championship while teaming with Hunter to win the NAIA Doubles Championship. Hunter, inducted posthumously, had a big year in 1962-63, earning NAIA All-American honors after winning the 1963 NAIA Doubles National Championship with Lang. Hunter helped the Broncs win their third-straight NAIA National Championship and 11th-straight Big State Conference Championship that season.
