Hall of Fame
The 1964 men’s tennis team was inducted into the hall of fame in 2015. The Pan American College Tennis Broncs began the 1964 season with a strong legacy and led by head coach Charles Magurean and hall of fame senior Jerry Wortelboer. They faced a challenging schedule that included 14 dual matches and six tournaments. The season kicked off with the Pan American Collegiate Tennis Championships in Edinburg, followed by participation in the Rice Collegiate Tournament, the River Oaks Tournament, and the Buccaneer Days Tournament.
Magurean, brought a wealth of experience to the team. The 1964 squad included key players such as Wortelboer and junior Reidar Getz, sophomores Jim Saucedo and John Hunter, and freshmen Jorge Kon and Luis Goncalvez. The Broncs went to the NAIA National Championships and Big State Conference Championships. The Broncs demonstrated their talent and determination throughout the season.
