One of several newcomers who will be counted upon to improve infield play... Will contend for the starting spot at shortstop... He made significant improvement defensively... Has great arm strength and has pop at the plate. 

(1994 Seminole JC): Hit .389 with home runs and 32 RBIs for coach Lloyd Simmons' team... Helped lead the team to a 56-6 record and regional playoff spot.

Monterrey High School: One of top shortstops in the nation as a senior... Two-time All-District 3-5A, All-City and All-South Plains honoree... Hit .374 with three home runs and 21 RBIs as a senior to lead team to 27-5 record and berth in Class 5A regional... Team compiled 78-14 record in three seasons and advanced to playoffs each year. 

Personal: Robert Joe Steve Garcia. Son of Joe and Mona Garcia of Lubbock, Texas. Born March 20, 1975 at Santa Ana, California. Majoring in criminal justice and would like to pursue a career as a federal agent with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and firearms following graduation.
